Being pregnant is both one of the most amazing and stressful experiences in a woman’s life.
On one hand, your body is growing, nurturing, and housing a precious little child. You can feel his/her movements and you feel tremendously blessed to be allowed to protect this baby until he/she is ready to enter the big wide world.
On the other hand, your body is growing, nurturing and housing a precious little child. Everything thing that you put in or on your body may have an effect on the delicate tiny baby while he/she is still in utero.
Is this food safe? Can I drink that? Should I use this? Will this hurt the baby?
It’s a lot to process. A lot to consider.
You would think that something as simple as a prenatal vitamin or a supplement would be a no-brainer in this department, but even these things can be filled with dyes, preservatives, and other unnecessary ingredients.
That’s why I was very pleased to discover the line of safe, natural pregnancy products from Fairhaven Health.
“Fairhaven Health provides conscientious mothers-to-be with products that are safe, natural, and effective. They’re designed by our team of leading ObGyns, naturopaths, and nutritionists, and they’re manufactured right here in the United States in a GMP-certified facility. In short, these are products we feel comfortable using during our own pregnancy. And that speaks volumes.”
I received three of their natural products to test on during my pregnancy. The Pregnancy Plus Prenatal Vitamin, the PreEase for morning sickness and heartburn relief, and the Pregnancy Plus Omega 3 supplement.
I was the most excited about the PreEase. If you follow To the Moon and Back on Facebook, you will know that out of all four of my pregnancies, this one has been the worst when it comes to nausea and morning sickness. I spent about six weeks barely able to move from my couch because it was so horrid and even now, into my second trimester I have rough days. After an ER trip for dehydration, I was desperate for relief but both prescriptions that were given to me to try did nothing but give me side effects that made it more difficult to function throughout the day. Besides that, I hated taking medication that was not necessary while I was pregnant.
The first day the package arrived, I quickly opened up the PregEase bottle and took out two of the tablets. I was immediately surprised by the pleasant citrus smell. The tablets are large but they are CHEWABLE (which is great for someone like me who, even as an adult, has difficulty swallowing pills). These tablets contain natural nausea-fighting ingredients such as vitamins B6 and B12, ginger root, lemon balm, and brown seaweed powder. They taste just like they smell, sort of like an orange flavored powdery candy.
Within an hour of taking two of the tablets, my nearly unbearable morning sickness was GREATLY relieved. I thought I’d found a miracle! The difference was that drastic.
I have never dealt with heartburn during pregnancy, but I wanted to know how these tablets would treat acid reflux problems. I used my husband as a guinea pig here. He often gets vicious heartburn, so one evening when he was complaining of discomfort, I told him to try the PregEase. Poof! Heartburn GONE! I am so incredibly thankful for this product. I can find relief and also not carry a burden of guilt for introducing medications to my baby.
The Pregnancy Plus Prenatal Vitamins and the Omega 3 supplements were equally as pleasing. The prenatals are easy to swallow and contain NO artificial ingredients. It has all the necessary vitamins and minerals to support a healthy pregnancy, including folic acid and antioxidant support.
While many Omega 3 supplements smell and taste overwhelmingly fishy, the Pregnancy Plus variety only have a faint smell, detectable only if you actually put it right up against your nose. They also did not have much flavor at all when I swallowed them, making them easy to take. Omega 3 is a fatty acid that can be greatly beneficial to fetal growth and development.
Fairhaven Health has really done a wonderful job at providing women with fertility, nursing, and pregnancy products that are not only good for health but also for alleviating any worries about what you are putting in your body.
*I received these complimentary products from Fairhaven Health in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not required to give a positive review. *
