Welcome to the 6th Bee Crafty Kids link up here at To the Moon and Back!!!

This week we decided to try out something fun.  What child doesn’t love dinosaurs?!  We thought it’d be great to make our own Dinosaur SOAP.  To make it even better, we made them dinosaur EGGS so that eventually they would “hatch” in the tub!

We made one egg for each of my older two children.

Supplies:

1 bar of Ivory or other white soap per child
1 small dinosaur toy per child
Food coloring
Warm water

Grate up your bar of soap into a bowl.  This took me a few minutes to do and was the only part that I helped the children do.

Add in 6-8 drops of the food dye color of your child’s choice along with about 1/4 cup warm water.  Mix until it incorporates and stiffens slightly.

Dump out onto a clean surface.  I place ours on waxed paper.  Knead until it forms a doughy consistency.

Pat it down a little and place the dinosaur toy in the center, pressing it down gently.

Then mold the dough around the toy and form it into an egg shape.  Allow to dry for at least 24 hours.  It was a rather warm sunny day here, so we put ours outside to speed the drying process.

Once the soap is completely dry, it’s ready for your child to use in the tub!  After several uses, your dinosaur will start to be exposed and “hatch!”

This is a great way to make bath time fun!

Now it’s time for YOU to share what you and your children have been crafting!
