S is for Sugar Cookie Scented Playdough

It’s time for the letter S in the ABCs of Scented Playdough series!

This week, we dug our hands into some sugar cookie scented playdough.

Mmm.  Who doesn’t love the smell of fresh baked cookies??

As always, this is a simple recipe that takes only a few minutes to whip up.

Gather up:

Mix together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a medium saucepan.  Place approximately 10 drops of food coloring in the water, then pour it into the saucepan.  Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly.

Once the dough starts to form, add the warming oil.  Continue to stir until it gets to the correct consistency.   Remove from heat and knead gently.

Allow to cool and then play! Break out the rolling pins and cookie cutters!  Open a jar of sprinkles! Let the fun begin!

*Important Note: This playdough is NOT edible.  Do not allow your child to put it in their mouth.  Also, do not use more than a few drops of the oil.  It is highly fragranced, so you only need a little.  Wash your children’s hands after play.

Next week…the letter T!
