Teaching Preschoolers about Colors

80+ Resources for teaching preschoolers about colors!

Welcome to Day 3 of my 5 Days of Back to Homeschool: Preschool Prep series! Today, I’ll be sharing different ways to teach preschoolers their colors.

Color play is probably one of my favorite parts of preschool.  There are just so many ways to learn, play, and create! Encouraging children to express themselves with arts and crafts, both structured and unstructured, is one way to really stretch their little imaginations.  With this thought in mind, teaching preschoolers about color by using it in exciting and new ways is a fantastic way to approach this area.

Below I have gathered together some of the best resources across the web to teach colors to your youngest students.

Kids Learn Colors

Colors, colors, everywhere! It’s very easy to integrate color learning into your daily routine.

  • Examine the rainbow of produce when you go to the grocery store
  • Point out the various colors you see in nature when you are outside to play
  • When you are reading a book, ask about the colors in the illustrations
  • Help your child choose the color of the clothing they will wear for the day
  • Draw, paint, and color!

Do you have a favorite color learning activity?
