Beauty and the Beet: A Veggietales Spin on a Classic Tale

In this new movie from Veggietales, you’ll meet the VeggieTones, a family band struggling to make ends meet, led by the sweet and kindhearted singer Mirabelle (voiced by country singer Kellie Pickler). When they are caught in a heavy snowstorm, they find lodging at a long forgotten, one star rated resort, Beet’s Alpine Suites. Finnegan J. Beet, III is the ornery manager of the resort and when he demands payment for a large meal that they believed to be complimentary, the family must work off their debt by helping with chores around the establishment.

Veggietales Beauty and the Beet Review and Giveaway

Despite the difficulty that stems from Mr. Beet’s rather nasty attitude, Mirabelle maintains a sweet spirit and helpful nature. Eventually her kindness begins to penetrate the thick layer of angry resolve that he’s placed around himself.  When the time begins to draw near for the band to leave the resort, Mr. Beet has to come to terms with his temperament and determine if he should change. Mirabelle shows unconditional love despite whether or not it is deserved is a great example of  how God loves us for young children.

This 56 minutes DVD is great family entertainment (as are all the Veggietales movies!) and also contains lots of fun bonus features such as sing alongs, downloadable activities, and a brand new silly song! As usual, my children loved this movie. The first time they watched it, they played the sing alongs over and over again so that they could learn all the words to the songs in the movie. They even put on a concert showcasing several of their favorite VeggieTales songs, including the feature song from Beauty and the Beet, “Show You Love.” Here’s a clip of my own little family band(ignore that my son seems less than thrilled. He got camera shy.):
