My husband often makes fun of me because there are nearly always papers scattered about on counters, tables, tucked in books, or in my purse containing lists. Grocery lists, book lists, lesson plan lists, supply lists, to do lists, and any other kind of list you can think of can probably be found floating around my home. Why?
Because I am hopelessly forgetful.
If I don’t write things down, I will not remember to do them, get them, buy them, etc. My brain apparently lost its capacity to retain any pertinent information roughly two children ago. Mommy brain, they call it.
The problem with have so many lists is that random pieces of paper can easily get lost or destroyed. A friend of mine introduced me to the wonderful world of planners–little books that contained areas for me to jot down all of my scrambled tasks in one place. Ah, Heaven.
Would you laugh at me if I told you that I currently have four different planners?
It’s alright. I laugh too. The thing is that I’ve yet to find a planner that fulfilled the needs I have in different areas of life all in one spot. C’est la vie, eh? I have, however, found various planners that are each perfect for different reasons.
For all of my homemaking chores and plans, the book that has filled the spot is the Daily Planner by Sue Hooley. This little spiral bound gem contains just about everything you need to organize your day caring for your home.
The planner is separated into seven sections so you can arrange things in just the right place.
- Monthly calendars
- Weekly calendars
- Tasks list
- Projects and Events
- Information (Addresses/Phone Numbers)
- Shopping Lists
I use the monthly calendars to jot down our extracurricular activities, field trips, doctor’s appointments, and other similar things. Then I use the weekly calendar to really get everything in order. It is probably the portion that I use the most. I nearly always have my planner opened, folded back, and lying out on the current day so I can easily see at a glance what is on the day’s agenda.
Whenever I realize that we are almost out of a household supply or food item, I can quickly write it down in the shopping list section. I cannot tell you how many times I have thought to myself that I’d write something down on our grocery list in a few minutes only to have completely forgotten it seconds later! It is so frustrating! Now, I just put it down on the list and it’s right there for when I’m ready to head to the store.
The planner is 6×9 so it is compact enough to slide right into your purse for easy access.
I absolutely love the Scriptures that are written throughout the planner. What better source of daily encouragement is there than the Word of God? It’s great for a little pick me up or reminder of His love and mercy in the midst of a busy day.
The Daily Planner is also very affordable at only $13.99. Until December 6th, you can also get FREE SHIPPING! That’s a pretty great deal, if you ask me.
