It’s time for Poppins Book Nook! This virtual monthly book club showcases great books for children and activities to accompany them. This month’s theme was Forests/Woods!
This month, I used a super fun book that had us all giggling, A Tale of Two Beasts by Fiona Roberton. This book is the story of a little girl who rescues a forest creature and brings it home to care for as it recovers. It’s an amusing tale and has a great surprise for children. In the second half of the book, the story is repeated from the animal’s perspective and his version is quite different.
My children enjoyed this book so much, we read it three times in a row the first time. Honestly, I got a good chuckle out of it too! That’s always a fun bonus. Picture books aren’t just for the kids!
After reading this, I decided to create these simple forest animal coloring pages. This pack includes 12 coloring pages featuring six different woodland creatures and their babies. Simple handwriting practice is on every page and children will also learn the names of baby forest animals! To get your forest animals coloring pages, simply click the image below!
